Ted Shaw
Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica and Percussion

Ted has lived in Swindon with his wife Sue since 1976; they have two sons and three grandchildren.

Music has always played a big part in Ted's life. He grew up in Ruislip, Middlesex where he learnt the guitar from his father, a talented musician who played guitar, organ, trumpet and drums.

Ted played guitar and bass in Rock & Roll and Soul bands throughout the 1960's and sang and played in Blues bands and Rock bands in the 1990's. However his interest in Folk music also started in the mid 1960's when he saw artists such as Sandy Denny, John Renbourne and Jacquie McShee. He has been a member of Swindon Folk Singers Club since 1996.

Between 1996 and 2005 he worked all over the country and visited local folk clubs and took part in as many sing-rounds and sessions he could find. He sang a mix of contemporary folk songs and acoustic blues and swapped songs with the other singers he met. During this period he reckons his trusty acoustic guitar did over 150,000 miles.

Ted is the tenor voice in Friggitt – Chris and Peter say he’ll sing anything for a tenner! He does most of the guitar playing and plays harmonica in some songs.
